Troubleshooting to Link LED light red/ Netgear extender unable to connect to the router

  • if the Link Led light is red or you are unable to connect the extender to the network through the smart setup wizard, then try to move the extender to another location and see if the Link Led light turn green/amber from red. Keep moving the extender to different locations, also keep on checking the Link Rate and the PC to Extender Connection LEDs on the front panel until you find a location where the Link Rate LED is green or amber and the PC to Extender Connection LED is green.
  • Once the optimum spot for the extender is found and after checking that the Link Rate LED is green or amber, open the web browser and visit https://my-wifiexts.net/  After this follow onscreen instructions to further Netgear extender installation.

Second step to do Netgear WN2000RPT N300 setup

In the second step of doing Netgear WN2000RPT N300 setup, As the Netgear range extender are wireless, but there is also an option to connect them with a computer using an ethernet cable. For this purpose, their LAN ports can be used. If you don’t find your network under the list then try to reposition the extender to a different location. How to do the Range Extender IP Address Setup

  • In the range extender menu, at https://my-wifiexts.net/ locate the select IP Address. The default IP Address screen shows whether the range extender is set to get its IP address dynamically from the router which is usually done or is set as a static IP address.
  • By default, the wireless network router gives an IP address when the range extender connects to its wireless network. Most networks are set up so that the router automatically does this.
  • Specify an IP address. Generally, it is not required but if you wish so, then we advise to take help from a technically experienced person

IP Address: The static IP address.

IP Subnet Mask: The subnet mask associated with the IP address.
Gateway IP Address: The IP address for the gateway.
